Tutu in Hermanus

Last night we went to hear Bishop Desmond Tutu speak in the NGK in Hermanus. Fellow South Africans will, I'm sure, understand the irony of that! He is a very warm and humble person with a great sense of humor and it was a privilege to listen to his message.

I love your blog

Thanks to freshly found for giving me an "I love your blog" award. I am going to follow her lead and pass it on to other inspiring creations on some of my favourite blogs!
First is the fabric from pippijoe. I just love all these little faces! Makes me wish my children were young again. Teenagers do come with unexpected challenges!

Next, interested in all things to do with design in the kitchen, This print by LizzyHouse caught my eye. What a lovely teatowel this would make!

What a lovely cushion cover this new design "winter nest " by cheaky beaks makes. There are also lengths of fabric in other colourways.

I love the mugs Heather Moore from SkinnyLaminx has made, this is just one of them but they are all mouthwatering....mmmm I think a cup of tea would be rather nice right now!

And finally Jesse's fabulous printed tape!

wool kebabs

I was thinking about making a knitting bag and was looking for something to print on the front so I thought "what about wooll kebab sticks?" and here they are! Even if I don't use them it at least started off a wool stocktake and a bit of a clean up.

etsy favourites

Leaves, trees and birds!
I love to look at all the talented crafters products on Etsy. The treasury is my favourite stop and these are a few things that caught my eye.

First is the embroidered notebook from stitchntyme then the cards from cricketpress and the stunning fern cards from jrischitelli. My absolute favourite is the leather bound journal from acorngirl and finally the paper birds from essentialpapers.

I have just noticed that all the products I love are made of paper and I am supposed to be the textile designer!

Design in progress

A new design hot off the printing machine. I did the design in the positive first and then cut out the proteas and put them onto a black peice of paper to get a negative effect.
I have to admit I havn't really got any further with it and am wondering if I should make a cushion cover or bag.....maybe both!

Cold weather...hot water bottles!

As the weather has really turned wet and cold, I took out my hot water bottle to discover that the cover looked a bit sad. Stretched out of shape and minus a button.
So, I decided to knit a new one. This is the work in progress. At this stage I thought it was going to be to small. ( My English teacher would cringe at this grammar -starting sentences with prepositions!)
The final cover! I'm quite pleased with it although the photo is terrible. Oh well, I'll just have to blame it on the grey day and lack of light.
